About Our Club

Since the rechartering of Kiwanis Club of Montclair in 2019 we are looking for new members to join us as we spread our wings and increase the ways we serve our community.

Meetings

We meet twice a month. The first meeting is on the 2nd Wednesday at 7:00pm by Zoom and the second meeting is on the 4th Wednesday in-person at 7pm. An individual’s commitment is only two hours a month and the benefit to the community is determined by the imagination and commitment of the the club’s membership.

Projects

Already our members have run food and diaper drives to benefit Toni’s Kitchen, deliver grocery bags in support of Toni’s Kitchen during the pandemic years to families and those unable to leave their homes at that time and this continues.

We have been providing an annual car seat safety check at some of the local schools with support from Hackensack Meridian Mountainside Medical Center for the past few years.

In the fall of 2022 we started our athletic shoe drive collection to raise funds towards a scholarship fund for a graduate of Montclair High School in recognition of their service to the community. We have awarded three scholarships for $1,000 each in the past two years.

During Covid 19 Kiwanis Club of Montclair worked with the Mayor’s Covid 19 task Force on a committee to build a list of Non-Profits in the town of Montclair. Available Here.

Sponsoring the Montclair High School Key Club

One of the club’s priorities is to mentor and sponsor the members of Montclair High School’s Key Club, who this year ’22/’23 committed over 500 hours of service to the Montclair community. Service projects included supporting food distributions in the community, assisting Van Vleck in the gardens, the garden education programs and set up of many Van Vleck fundraising events, food donations to Toni’s Kitchen, Holiday Bazaar, younger student tutoring and more.

Sponsoring Passaic Academy of Science and Engineering High School Key Club

Montclair Kiwanis in May 2023 begins sponsoring the Key Club at Passaic Academy of Science and Engineering (PASE). We are happy to begin a new mentorship with a growing Key Club at PASE who this year participated in Passaic River Makes A Splash 2023! They created games & flyers to help their community explore ways to help the local ecosystem adapt to climate change. Read more here on the website they built in conjunction with their town & mayor.

About Kiwanis

Kiwanis empowers volunteers to improve their world through service to children and communities. Kiwanis members help shelter the homeless, feed the hungry, mentor those needing a helping hand, and care for the sick. Kiwanis help develop youth leaders by sponsoring a Kiwanis family club — K-Kids for primary school children; Builders Clubs for adolescents; Key Clubs for teens; Circle K clubs for university students and Aktion Clubs for adults living with disabilities.

Service is at the heart of every Kiwanis club, no matter where in the world it’s located.

Please see the Kiwanis International web site for more information.
